I spoke with someone at my credit union yesterday, regarding getting euros and pounds; she said that I could get that at one of the banks, but I could get traveler’s checks through the credit union. I believe you do have to order cash; you can’t just walk in and ask for euros. I’ll be checking on that in a few days.
